Trip Advisor Ranks Jamaica Top Caribbean Destination

Well respected tourism rating company, Trip Advisor has ranked Jamaica as the number one Caribbean tourist destination.

Tourism Minister, Hon. Edmund Bartlett, who made the disclosure while addressing a ‘Spruce Up Jamaica’ tourism summer internship rally in Montego Bay on Thursday (August 11), credited the ranking to improvements to the tourism product and “the high class, white glove service that employees in the industry give to every visitor”.

“It’s a good feeling that we are being recognised for the value of the services that we offer because that’s what really defines the destination. It is the quality experience that the visitor has when he/she comes here,” he said.

“This is a signal honour not just for tourism, but for the entire country because… everyone has done his and her duty to make the destination enjoy this position,” he noted further.

The Tourism Minister said it will take continued hard work from all stakeholders to ensure that the destination maintains the top ranking in the region.

“We have to maintain that position by making sure that our key areas of involvement, of safety and security in particular, our culture and music, hotel rooms…that all the key parts are operating well,” he noted.

Trip Advisor is the world’s largest travel site offering advice from millions of travelers and a wide variety of travel choices and planning features. It links to booking tools that check hundreds of websites to find the best hotel prices.

Trip Advisor branded sites make up the largest travel community in the world, reaching 350 million monthly visitors, and 385 million reviews and opinions covering more than 6.6 million accommodations, restaurants and attractions. The sites operate in 48 markets worldwide.
