The Full Story

Scores of residents turned out at the Montpelier Agricultural Showground on August 4 for the staging of a business, health and opportunities fair.

Held under the theme ‘Local Economic Development: Building Communities…Improving Lives and Livelihood’, the event saw more than 18 public- and private-sector entities displaying their products and services.

It was organised by the Social Development Commission (SDC) in collaboration with Sandals Resorts.

Patrons received free health checks at the Sandals-sponsored health clinic, including blood sugar and blood pressure tests.

Some of the stakeholders that participated in the fair include Jamaica Business Development Corporation (JBDC), JAMPRO, Ministry of Labour and Social Security, Bureau of Standards, St. James Parish Council, Hi-Pro, National PC Bank, Jamaica Public Service (JPS), Jamaica National Small Business Loan, United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and Guardian Life Insurance.
