Prime Minister of Japan, His Excellency Mr. Shinzo Abe, is now on Jamaican soil, after arriving at the Norman Manley International Airport, today (September 30), for a two-day official visit.
He was met by Prime Minister, the Most Hon. Portia Simpson Miller; Chief of Defence Staff, Major General  Antony Anderson,  and Commissioner of Police, Dr. Carl Williams.
Following the playing of the Japanese national anthem, Prime Minister Abe also met Leader of the Opposition, Mr. Andrew Holness; President of the Senate, Mr. Floyd Morris, and other Jamaican and Japanese officials.
The Prime Minister is in Jamaica to reciprocate a visit made to Japan in 2013 by Prime Minister Simpson Miller.
After leaving the airport, he laid a wreath at the Cenotaph in National Heroes Park, in honour of soldiers who fought in World Wars I and II.
He will hold bilateral talks with the Government, and also visit the Bob Marley museum.
The Prime Minister will attend a Dinner  hosted by Mrs. Simpson Miller at Vale Royal.
