Maintenance Being Done on Roadway from Ocho Rios to Port Antonio

Contractors are carrying out road maintenance work along the 96-kilometre stretch from Ocho Rios in St. Ann to Port Antonio, Portland to ensure that the roadway remains in a stable condition even as work continues on segment three of the North Coast Highway project.
Senior Communications Officer at the National Works Agency (NWA), Collin Morrison, told JIS News that the work being done included the paving and patching of roadways, and the filling of potholes.
The work is being carried out by PIHL Construction Company as part of the company’s contractual obligations under the highway development project.
Mr. Morrison informed that patching was being done on the roadways between Ocho Rios and Rio Nuevo; Rio Nuevo and Port Maria; Port Maria and Llandrumney; while contractors have already paved the roadway between Rio Nuevo and Oracabessa.
In addition, potholes Are being filled between Agualta Vale and Dover; Port Maria and Llandrumney. Similar repairs were carried out between Port Antonio and the Rio Grande Bridge earlier this year.
He indicated that that similar maintenance work will be done on the roadway between St. Margaret’s Bay and Hope Bay, as soon as infrastructural work being undertaken by the National Water Commission along the corridor, is completed.
