Gregory Isaacs body home for November 20 Burial

The body of Reggae star, Gregory Isaacs, arrived at the Norman Manley Airport in Kingston Thursday evening (November 11) for burial.
Director of Culture in the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture, Sydney Bartlett, representing the Minister, the Hon Olivia “Babsy” Grange, was joined by tour manager, Copeland Forbes and a group of relatives and friends of the late singer at the airport for the arrival.
Isaacs, who died of lung cancer at his home in London on October 25 at age 59, will be buried at Dovecot on Saturday, November 20, following a Thanksgiving Service to celebrate his life, at the National Indoor Sports Centre in Kingston at 10 a.m. The theme of the service will be, ‘A Red Rose for Gregory’.
A Thanksgiving Service was held Wednesday at the All Saints Anglican Church in Harrow Weald, North London, Wednesday, where tributes flowed.

Jamaica’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, His Excellency Anthony Johnson, gave a tribute on behalf of Prime Minister, the Hon. Bruce Golding, Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture, Hon. Olivia ‘Babsy’ Grange, and members of the Jamaican Parliament and the Jamaican community in the UK.
Following the ceremony Isaacs’ remains were taken to a rest home at Gatwick Airport, from where it was flown to Jamaica for burial.
Viewing of his body will take place at the National Indoor Sports Centre, Independence Park, between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Friday, November 19.
The Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture has assisted the Isaacs family with the arrangements for the service, which is being planned by a committee comprised of family members, music industry personnel and officials of the Ministry and chaired by the Minister.
The theme for the Thanksgiving Service is Red Rose for Gregory and people attending are being asked to take a red rose, wear black or white or a combination, and to be seated by 9.30 a.m.
The first hour of the Service will be a musical tribute to Gregory and will feature a number of top Reggae acts including Lloyd Parkes and the We the People Band, Ken Boothe, Freddie McGregor, Mavado, the Tamlins and Bongo Herman.
