The Full Story
The Government will be embarking on a programme to establish recreational spaces across Jamaica.
This will be undertaken through collaboration between the Sports Development Foundation (SDF) and the Culture, Health, Arts, Sports and Education (CHASE) Fund.
The $15 million project was announced by Prime Minister, the Most Hon. Andrew Holness, in his 2016/17 Budget Debate presentation in the House of Representatives on May 24.
The Prime Minister said the programme is integrally linked to the development of Jamaica’s human capital and the effort to build stronger and more peaceful communities.
Mr. Holness added that this will also support community regeneration through investment in local businesses.
“Among social development desires is the need for safe and adequate recreational spaces for children to play,” the Prime Minister said.
He emphasised that outdoor play space and recreational areas are key foundations for thriving communities.
