Citizens residing in western Jamaica are being invited to participate in a plant sale being staged by the Forestry Department in recognition of International Day of Forests, on Thursday (March 21).

The one-day event will be held at the entity’s northwest regional office located at the Rural Agricultural Development Authority (RADA) Complex in Catherine Hall, St. James, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

It will highlight the vital role that forests play in sustaining life on earth, while empowering citizens to take tangible actions towards preserving forests.

The event will also encourage individuals to actively contribute to environmental conservation efforts in their communities.

A diverse selection of plant species native to Jamaica will be on sale, including ornamental plants, fruit trees, and potted plants.

Attendees will have the opportunity to purchase plants for their homes, offices, or gardens, while benefiting from discounts on select palm and Honduran Mahogany seedlings.

Staff and experts from the Forestry Department will be on-site to provide guidance and information on plant care, suitable species for various environments, and the benefits of cultivating native plants.
