Facelift for Salvation Army School for the Blind

The Tourism Product Development Company (TPDCo) will be undertaking beautification and improvement work at the Salvation Army School for the Blind, in Kingston, and the Wesleyan Basic School, in St. James, as part of activities for Labour Day, May 24.
Executive Director of TPDCo, Earl Patrick, told JIS News that some 50 members of staff from its Kingston office would undertake work at the Salvation Army School, which would include painting of boundary and entrance walls, planting of seedlings and spreading of manure, landscaping and general raking and sweeping of the grounds.
Another 30 participants from TPDCo’s Ocho Rios and Montego Bay offices will paint the Wesleyan Basic School, plant fruit trees, establish a vegetable garden and beautify the play areas.
“Labour Day is give back day.giving back to the nation, offering voluntary service to show our fellowmen that we want to help in whatever way we can,” the Executive Director said.
Highlighting this year’s theme, ‘Our children.Show Them We Care’, Mr. Patrick said that the selection of both projects was the company’s way of giving back, enhancing the lives of children and improving their surroundings.
He pointed out that a very critical part of the future for TPDCo is the development of community tourism and that initiatives such as these, “will allow everyone to taste and feel what the tourism product is all about and can be used as the building blocks to the future.”
