The Agricultural Unit of the West Indies Alumina Company (WINDALCO) will be staging its annual Farmer’s Sale Day on Saturday, July 23 at PRC Traders in Moneague, St. Ann.
Assistant Coordinator for the event, Camille Henlon, told JIS News that the sale day has proven to be a success over the years.
“This event is organized not only to provide a market for the farmers but also to create an atmosphere where they can take their produce and meet directly with consumers, retailers and exporters,” she said.In addition to low-priced fruits and vegetables, ornamental and horticulture plants, patrons will also benefit from free health checks.
Ms. Henlon noted further, that a number of farm supply stores and experts would be on hand to provide information. These include Farmer’s Traders, Hi-pro Farm Supplies, Antilles Chemical, Rural Agricultural Development Authority, Jamaica Secretaries Association, Forestry Department, Newport Mills, Digicel, Jamaica Bauxite Institute, St. Jago Farm Supplies, Moneague People’s Co-operative Bank, Caribbean Pride Limited, veterinarians, among others.
The day promises to be fun-filled and will feature entertainment by the Moneague Community College band and the St. Ann Senior Citizen’s group.
Patrons will also be able to win spot prizes such as baby chicks, feed, seeds, hand tools, sprayers, fertilizers, chemicals, flowers, fruit trees and a lot more, she said.
Ms. Henlon is urging full support for the day’s activities, which will get underway 8:00 a.m.
