March 5, 2010

The Full Story

Traffic congestion on the Bogue Main Road, which forms part of the A.G.S. Coombs Highway, Montego Bay, should ease by the end of June, with completion of construction works being undertaken by the National Works Agency (NWA), at a cost of $1.4 billion.
Manager of Communications and Customer Services at the National Works Agency (NWA), Stephen Shaw, made the announcement in an address to members of the Kiwanis Club of Providence, Montego Bay, at their recent meeting at Wexford Hotel.
“The NWA is now undertaking a massive project which is aimed at increasing the capacity of this roadway, which involves the widening of the existing two lane corridor to accommodate four lanes of traffic with improved intersection designs and significant drainage rehabilitation,” Mr. Shaw stated.

He said that the project was already some seventy five per cent completed, but the contractor would not be able to meet the original March, 2010 completion deadline due to setbacks such as bad weather and a lack of adequate base course material.
