The Government and Opposition will resume talks at Vale Royal tomorrow (June 11), following a meeting in January of this year. At that meeting, both parties agreed to establish bi-partisan committees to review and report on critical matters as they related to specific issues raised at the meeting.
The January meeting was described by both parties as cordial, frank and constructive. The discussions covered issues relating to crime, commodity prices, parliamentary and constitutional reform and the constituency development programme. The national energy policy, funding of political parties and the distribution of work and benefits in constituencies, were also discussed.
The concept of the Vale Royal talks was introduced in 2002 in order to achieve consensus on issues of national concern, between the government and the Opposition.
