The Full Story

Minister without Portfolio with responsibility for Information, Senator the Hon. Sandrea Falconer, has noted that the government of Trinidad and Tobago has expressed its appreciation for the assistance that has been extended to the Mayor of San Fernando, Marlene Coudray, as police continue to search for answers surrounding the disappearance of Mayor Coudray’s daughter, high school teacher Michelle Coudray Greaves.

Trinidad and Tobago media have reported that Minister of Foreign Affairs and Communications, Dr Suruj Rambachan, told the June 14 post-Cabinet press briefing at the Office of the Prime Minister in Trinidad that Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller had been “very helpful to the Coudray family and the Government of Trinidad and Tobago."

Making her remarks to journalists seeking a comment on June 14 in Kingston, Prime Minister Simpson Miller said that she had been following the sad situation and had spoken with the High Commissioner of Trinidad and Tobago about the matter. Mrs Simpson Miller also gave assurance that the police are working hard on the case and that the family members need to be supported at this time.

At the post-Cabinet press briefing in Kingston on Tuesday, June 12, Minster Falconer said that the incident should not strain relations between the two countries.

Mayor Coudray arrived in Jamaica on Wednesday, June 13, was met on arrival by Minister Falconer and other officials; and has also met with the Commissioner of Police.
