Traffic signals along Knutsford Boulevard in New Kingston were turned on by Minister of Transport and Works, Mike Henry on June 4, as part of the government’s thrust to reduce traffic congestion in the Corporate Area.
The signals have been installed at the intersections of Barbados Avenue and Knutsford Boulevard, Grenada Crescent and Knutsford Boulevard and Trinidad Terrace and Knutsford Boulevard.
“This is part of the ministry’s plan for traffic management, certainly in the city and ultimately across the broader spectrum of the country. For the next few weeks, we will be examining the traffic movement in order to make further interventions in improving traffic flow through New Kingston, then by extension the areas that need to be addressed,” the Minister informed.
Mr. Henry pointed out that other measures would be taken to ease congestion in the New Kingston area, including the development of one-way systems and the erection of signs in the area.
