Toronto’s First Jamaican Charity Ball to Assist Hospitals in Jamaica

Two Jamaican hospitals will benefit from the proceeds of the first-ever Jamaican Charity Ball, to be held in Toronto, Canada, on September 15.
The Helping Hands for Jamaica Foundation, under the distinguished patronage of Jamaica’s Consul-General to Toronto, Anne-Marie Bonner, will host the new charity event, with proceeds going to the Port Antonio and Cornwall Regional Hospitals.
The charity ball will be held at the exclusive Donalda Golf and Country Club, in the York Mills/Don Mills area of Toronto.
In an interview with JIS News, Miss Bonner described the charity ball as a benchmark event in Toronto.”This should prove to be an exciting night celebrating the best of the island. The success of the ball is dependent on the involvement of caring Jamaicans and our partners. I am looking forward to all of us enjoying a wonderful evening of relaxing music and entertainment, delicious food and excellent company,” she said.
Jamaican-born television broadcaster, Dwight Drummond, who hails from Montego Bay, will host the event, which will feature live musical performances by world renowned reggae artistes, Jay Douglas and Jakki James.
The charity ball will also feature cocktails, a silent auction, a gourmet dinner and a live auction, with all proceeds going towards the purchase of well-needed equipment for the two hospitals.
The Helping Hands for Jamaica Foundation was formed recently by a group of concerned and dedicated Jamaican-Canadians.
