The town of Mandeville will come alive this Saturday, May 24, when members of the Caribbean District of Optimist International meet at the Golf View Hotel, Caledonia Road, for their Third Quarter Regional Conference.
The one-day Conference, under the chairmanship of Governor Granville Newell starts off with an Executive Committee meeting at 7.30 a.m., which will be followed at 10.30 a.m. by the Opening Ceremony and General Business Session. Sharing in the occasion will be International President Theodore Golding and International Vice President Shirley Jarrett, both Jamaicans.
With more than 3,000 clubs and over 100,000 members serving in 37 countries, Optimist International is community-based and focuses on youth. The organization provides assistance for six million young people annually through community service projects worth some 78-million United States dollars.
