Four girls from the Aabuthnott Gallimore High School in St. Ann have been crowned champions of the Caribbean Food and Nutrition Institute’s (CFNI) regional Quiz Competition.
The students are: Andrene Barrett, Dacoda Cummings, Yessan Cummings and Natassia Henry.

“Fifteen schools from the Caribbean competed at the regional level and the Aabuthnott Gallimore High School was declared the victors. This was the first victory that Jamaica has had in the eight-year history of this competition,” he said.
Deputy Chief Education Officer, Jasper Lawrence who spoke at a recognition ceremony on December 9, said the victory by the school was a stepping-stone for future victories, and was proof that the students had all possibilities in them.
He challenged the students at Aabuthnott Gallimore to remain focused and congratulated them on their achievements.
The girls received cash awards and certificates from the CFNI, while their teachers, Elaine Brown and Hermese Meredith were presented with gifts.
Among those in attendance were Rev. Hubert Hall, Chairman of the Board of Governors; Paula Trotter, Regional Co-coordinator for the CFNI; Charmaine Edwards, Director of Nutrition in the Ministry of Health; Ernest Smith, Member of Parliament, and representatives from neighbouring schools.
