The 2012 Denbigh Agricultural Show promises to be fun-filled with a slew of activities and attractions over the three-day staging.
The show is scheduled for Saturday, August 4 to Monday, August 6 at the Denbigh Showground in May Pen, Clarendon, under the theme: ‘Grow What You Eat…Eat What You Grow’.

Speaking with JIS News, President of the Jamaica Agricultural Society (JAS) and Chairman of the Denbigh Committee, Senator Norman Grant, said that this year’s show is expected to attract the biggest crowd in the event’s history.
With Jamaica celebrating 50 years of Independence and Denbigh marking its 60th anniversary, Senator Grant said the show will highlight the rich history and culture of both Denbigh and Jamaica, through displays of produce and livestock and an array of cultural performances.
Among the highlights will be the anniversary celebration and exposition of the Jamaica Hope and Jamaica Red Pole Cattle Breeders associations; National Champion Farmer and National Farm Queen competitions; educational fora; and food demonstrations.
There will also be competitions such as the Ace Egg Race, Delta Supply Company Chainsaw contest, and a Digicel Mini Olympics.
The village segments has been vastly improved this year and will feature a Youth in Agriculture Village, Children’s Village, Health Village, Farmer’s Market, Denbigh Motor Show, Food Village, Olympic Village and an Organic Village.
The show, which prides itself on being family-friendly, will offer a stellar entertainment package, which will include the annual gospel extravaganza with performances from Carlene Davis, DJ Nicholas, Goddy Goddy, Kevin Downswell and Sister Scully; and a grand concert featuring past winners of the Digicel Rising Stars competition.
The annul Denbigh Agricultural Show has become an institution, highlighting the best of Jamaica’s agricultural production and cultural expression and many Jamaicans have grown up enjoying the exposition.
