Several Bridges to be Completed This Year

Works are to be completed on several bridges across the island under the Jamaica Development Infrastructure Programme (JDIP),this financial year.

This was disclosed by State Minister for Transport, Works and Housing, Hon. Richard Azan, during his contribution to the 2013/14 Sectoral Debate in the House of Representatives, on June 5.

“Bridges are a vital element of the nation’s main road network, and the Government is determined to ensure that bridges across the island are modern, safe and reliable,” he said.

The National Works Agency (NWA) will be completing work on the following structures: Westmoreland Bridge, St. Mary; Craigmill Modular Bridge, Portland; Kintyre Modular Bridge, St. Andrew; John’s Hall Bridge, St. James; Southwood Bridge, Clarendon; Stony Bridge, Westmoreland; and Robin’s Bay Box Culvert, St. Mary.

The State Minister further informed that the “much heralded Cassia Park and Queensborough Bridges, will be officially opened to the public in the near future.”
