The Full Story

Members of several communities in St. Mary turned out on Labour Day (May 24), to take part in activities in the parish.
Among the projects worked on were the refurbishing of the Pringle Home for Children in Carron Hall; the painting of buildings; the erection of road signs; drain cleaning; the bushing of roadways, the painting of road signs and the cleaning of playfields. Approximately 80 projects were registered with the St. Mary Labour Day Committee.
Included in the work on the parish project (Pringle Home) were the painting of the building, the cleaning and beautification of the compound and the planting of trees.
Among the organisations combining their efforts to work on the project were the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF), the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), the Child Development Agency (CDA) and the National Youth Service (NYS).
Speaking to JIS News at the site of the parish project, Chairman of the
St. Mary Labour Day Committee and Mayor of Port Maria, Councillor Richard Creary expressed appreciation for the work done.
The Mayor thanked the community members and the representatives of the various organisations for the role they played to ensure the successful implementation of the project.
He said that every effort would be made to complete the projects, and that work would continue on the unfinished ones.
