A service of thanksgiving and an exhibition on the life of Jamaica’s National Heroes will take place at the Hillside Presbyterian Church in Decatur, Georgia on October 29, beginning at 5:00 p.m. The service and exhibition, organised by the Atlanta Jamaican Association’s Cultural Committee, is under the distinguished patronage of the Honorary Consul of Jamaica in Atlanta, Vin Martin. Dr. Chris Parker, Vice President of Integrity Children’s Fund, will pay special tribute to the National Heroes, while Mr. Martin will bring greetings. According to Chairman of the Atlanta Jamaican Association’s Cultural Committee, Sybil Leslie, the entire event was the brainchild of the Cultural Committee of the Association and is the first of its kind to be held in Atlanta. “Jamaicans residing here in the United States, their adopted home, are fully conscious of their roots. We should use the event to pause and reflect on the part played by those noble personalities, their struggles and the difficulties they had to overcome to enable Jamaica to become an independent nation. Let us honour and remember them always, lest we forget,” she told JIS News.
The exhibition on the National Heroes is being made possible by the Jamaica Information Service (JIS).
