Senator Malahoo Forte named Young Global Leader

Senator the Hon. Marlene Malahoo Forte, Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, has been honoured as a Young Global Leader (YGL).
The honour, bestowed each year by the World Economic Forum, recognises the most distinguished young leaders below the age of 40 from around the world for their professional accomplishments, commitment to society and potential to contribute to shaping the future of the world.
The forum announced its list of 197 YGLs yesterday (March 3) in Geneva, Switzerland, which comprises representatives from 72 countries in the fields of business, civil society, social entrepreneurs, politics and government, arts and culture, and opinion and media.
The 2010 class represents all regions: East Asia (43), South Asia (21), Europe (46), Middle East and North Africa (14), sub-Saharan Africa (17), North America (38) and Latin America and Caribbean (18).
The selection committee, comprised of 30 eminent international media leaders and chaired by Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, selected Malahoo Forte after carefully screening the profiles of almost 5,000 young leaders. Her selection is in recognition of her record of professional accomplishments, her commitment to society and her potential to contribute to shaping the future of the world through her inspiring leadership.
As an honouree, Senator Malahoo Forte is invited to join The Forum of YGL as an active community member. The YGL community forms a unique global network of peers from diverse backgrounds and fields, with a highly visible opportunity to significantly impact world affairs and shape the global agenda.
