Senator Dwight Nelson to Act as Minister of National Security

Minister without Portfolio in the Ministry of Finance and the Public Service, Senator the Hon. Dwight Nelson, has been appointed to act as Minister of National Security in place of the Hon. Derrick Smith who underwent surgery last night. (April 7).
On the advice of the Prime Minister, Bruce Golding, the Governor-General has charged Senator Nelson with responsibility for the subjects and departments which were assigned to Mr. Smith. Senator Nelson will act in this position until Mr. Smith resumes duties.
Mr. Smith is resting comfortably and is expected to be discharged from the hospital later this week.
