Road Works Near Sabina Park Completed

With less than two days to go before the official opening ceremony of the ICC Cricket World Cup (CWC) 2007 tournament, Communication and Customer Services Manager at the National Works Agency (NWA), Stephen Shaw, is reporting that road works that were undertaken in the vicinity of Sabina Park has been completed.
In an interview with JIS News, Mr. Shaw said that the NWA “went all out”, to ensure the completion of the stipulated works, prior to the official start of the tournament this Sunday (March 11).
“We had a very tight schedule working with, and we worked night and day to have the task accomplished, and we have accomplished it,” he asserted.
“In an effort to give that area around National Heroes Circle to Sabina Park a face-lift, we embarked on this work programme to rehabilitate South Camp Road and a couple other roadways surrounding it. The programme got underway in December of last year and we have now completed it,” he reiterated.
He noted that the scope of work undertaken included the re-construction of South Camp Road between Deanery Road and East Queen Street, the rehabilitation of sections of North Street and Upper Elletson Road, the installation of two new traffic signals, marking roadways, improving side walks to facilitate persons with disabilities, and installing signs.
More than $157 million was spent on the project, which also included the rehabilitation of Glenmore and Norman Roads.
