The Full Story

Milton Russell, Recruitment Officer at the HEART/NTA, is urging persons living in St. Elizabeth to enroll in any certifiable skills training programme such as those offered by his organisation so as to become more marketable.
He was speaking at a public education session held in Newell, St. Elizabeth recently, to inform residents of training programmes offered by HEART in the parish. The meeting was organised in conjunction with the Jamaica Information Service. HEART/NTA has three vocational centres in Black River, Junction and Newport, offering training in auto mechanics, electrical installation, food preparation, furniture production, secretarial skills, welding and fabrication, general construction, data entry, garment construction, cosmetology and information technology.
At the nearby Ebony Park Academy in Clarendon, a multi faceted agricultural programme is offered, providing trainees with skills in crop and livestock production, agro-processing, housekeeping, apiculture, food preservation, inland aquaculture, entrepreneurship, tractor operation and maintenance and computer repairs.
Mr. Russell observed that all programmes offered by the HEART/NTA were on the cutting edge of technology. “Our mission is to ensure that we have a world-class operation and that all who we train are able to make a worthwhile contribution to the development of our nation,” he said.
