Approval has been given by Cabinet for the establishment of a regional office of the Firearm Licensing Authority,  in Mandeville, Manchester.

This was announced by Minister with responsibility for Information, Senator the Hon. Sandrea Falconer, at a Jamaica House media briefing, held at the Office of the Prime Minister, Western Regional Office, in Montego Bay, on September 4.

The new office, the Minister said, will serve the needs of residents in Manchester, St. Elizabeth, Clarendon and Southern Trelawny.

The Authority was established in 2005 to streamline, standardise and improve the process of granting, renewing and revoking firearm licences.

At present, persons in need of such service are required to travel to Kingston for application and processing.

The opening of the Mandeville office will therefore improve service delivery and the Authority’s commitment to better serve the public.
