The Full Story

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), today (September 9), handed over five computers to the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), during a ceremony at the High Commission, in Kingston.
The machines, which comprise three desk tops and two lap top computers, will go to the Transnational Crimes and Narcotics Division and other departments of the JCF, to assist with drug interdiction and training activities.
Commanding Officer of the Transnational Crimes and Narcotics Division, Senior Superintendent Warren Clarke, who received the computers on behalf of the JCF, said “they will definitely increase our capacity as we pursue the anti-narcotics effort.”

Others (from second left) are: Assistant Superintendent Keisha Scott, of the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s Transnational Crimes and Narcotics Division; Commanding Officer of the Division, Senior Superintendent Warren Clarke, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) in charge of the Serious and Organised Crime Branch, Leslie Green.

“We are very pleased to have such great partners in the fight. We really feel bolstered by your support and we look forward to a mutual friendship as we go along,” he added.
High Commissioner of Canada to Jamaica, His Excellency Stephen Hallihan said the gesture was an opportunity for the Commission to express its support for the work of the JCF.
He argued that there is no sector that is more important to the livelihood, safety and future of Jamaica than the JCF and the High Commission placed great value on its relationship with the organisation.
Liaison Officer with the RCMP, Dave Rampersad, handed over the computers, which were purchased with funds provided by the RCMP Liaison Office.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) in charge of the Serious and Organised Crime Branch, Leslie Green and Assistant Superintendent Keisha Scott, of the Transnational Crimes and Narcotics Division, were also on hand to receive the computers.
