Interim guidelines for the admission of cruise ships to the island’s ports have been drafted and circulated to the Port Authority of Jamaica and relevant agencies. This, amidst ongoing concerns from stakeholders in the cruise industry about Jamaica’s requirements as the country works to prevent an outbreak of the coronavirus COVID-19. According to the guidelines, any passenger or crew who in the prior 14 days has travelled to a country for which a landing restriction is in place will not be allowed to disembark. The decision to grant these privileges to others will depend on a review of ill persons on board. Health and Wellness Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton, says, this move has been made in light of the increased risk COVID-19 poses to the country.
