Police Commissioner Major General Antony Anderson says the States of Public Emergency continue to produce a downward trend in major crimes in the affected parishes. Commissioner Anderson says Clarendon and St Catherine have seen a 55 percent reduction in murders and a 51 percent reduction in shootings since the implementation of the enhanced security measure. For Westmoreland, St James and Hanover, murders are down 35 percent and shootings 40 percent, while a decline continues in South St Andrew with a 22 percent reduction in murders, and a 32 percent decrease in shootings. In addition, 5 hand guns, 84 rounds of ammunitions and a hand grenade were recently recovered.
