January is being recognized as Earthquake Awareness Month and Jamaicans can breathe a little easier knowing that in the event of an earthquake, a team of able volunteers will be there to help.The National Disaster Risk Management Volunteers’ Programme NDRMVP is Jamaica’s volunteer-driven disaster and emergency management initiative, which seeks to bring under one umbrella, persons from various institutions across the island to render service in the pre and post impact phases of a disaster.

But members of the Holy Ghost Assembly Church of God in Kiston Town St Catherine decided to go one step further by doing a kind deed for 100 children in the community on Sunday December 22. Pastor of the Church Joan Fennel says the treat is also part of activities to uplift the mood of the community.
