For many young Jamaicans, the next step after high school is to go to university. However, many are unable to do so because of the usually high cost. That number often includes wards of the state, who generally don’t have the family or support networks to help them overcome the financial burdens of pursuing tertiary education. But thanks to New York based charity, Children of Jamaica Outreach Inc, 10 wards of the state have received scholarships, allowing them to realize their dreams of attending university. The charity is providing $40,000 US dollars to fund the scholarships
