Member of Parliament for St Andrew Eastern, Hon. Fayval Williams, says efforts are being made to undertake a programme for the redevelopment of the town of Papine in the constituency.

“Papine is a hub of activity of pedestrians, vehicles and vendors. It is the ‘capital city’ of St. Andrew Eastern and an asset to the constituency, but it is in need of urgent rebuilding,” Mrs. Williams said.

She was making her contribution to the 2017/18 Constituency Debate in the House of Representatives on Wednesday (November 29).

Mrs. Williams, who is also Minister of State in the Ministry of Finance and the Public Service, said she has begun the process of assembling the stakeholders and pulling together all the proposals that have ever been written.

Meanwhile, Mrs Williams welcomed the recent construction of buildings within the Liguanea area.

She highlighted the recently completed Alliance Cambio and the newly constructed and expanded General Foods Supermarket at the Liguanea Plaza and the Hi-Lo Supermarket located at Lane Plaza.
