Professional Internship Programme for Overseas Students

A cultural and professional internship programme targeting overseas students of Jamaican parentage, will have its second run in the country this summer.The Grace, Kennedy Jamaican Birthright Programme, introduced last year to give overseas Jamaican students an opportunity to learn and earn in Jamaica, will be held in June and July.
This programme targets second and third generation Jamaicans living and attending tertiary level institutions overseas.
Grace, Kennedy and Company Limited will host the students for the duration of the programme, providing them with mentorship, valuable hands-on internship experience in a wide range of industries.
“The programme is a cultural and professional internship, geared at highlighting all aspects of Jamaican life, while furthering the career goals of the selected scholars. It will give the successful candidates a well rounded Jamaican experience,” noted Noel Greenland, a company spokesman with responsibility for overseas marketing.
Successful candidates will be hosted by families within the Grace, Kennedy and Company network, and will be exposed to aspects of the Jamaican heritage through visits to historic sites and entertainment events.
Students in the United States are guaranteed two of the six available spots in the programme.
For consideration to the programme, candidates must be second and third generation Jamaicans, 18 to 30 years old, who have never lived in Jamaica for a period exceeding six months and must be pursuing either an undergraduate or graduate degree programme with a grade ‘B’ average or higher.
