The Full Story

The Jamaica Productivity Centre (JPC) will host a conference on October 19 geared at providing public- and private-sector organisations with the tools necessary to maximise efficiency, effectiveness and profitability in a sustained way.

The Productivity and Continuous Improvement Conference involves partnership with Make Your Mark Consultants, and will be held at The Knutsford Court Hotel on Chelsea Avenue in New Kingston.

Executive Director of the JPC, Dr. Charles Douglas, told JIS News in a recent interview that the conference is being held at that time of year when companies are reviewing past performances and crafting budgets and strategies for the next year.

“This is a good time to introduce this training so that managers can decide what aspects of our continuous training improvement they wish to incorporate into their strategic plan. It will afford managers the opportunity to budget for these new initiatives,” he said.

The conference intends to target business managers, leaders and owners, supervisors and persons with responsibility for improving their companies’ efficiency and effectiveness.

It also aims to equip decision-makers at various management levels with the requisite information and analytical tools to substantially improve business performance.

“The conference will assist our target audience in meeting and exceeding expectations by helping them to make systematic changes in areas they have identified as important,” Dr. Douglas said.

“It is about making individuals, organisations, their products and services stand out from the rest. We strive to keep it simple, informative and useful,” he noted.

The JPC Executive Director believes that the conference is a step in aiding Jamaican firms to record sizeable and continuous growth in productivity and profitability.

Among the topics to be covered at the conference are Productivity Measurement and Benchmarking, Organisational Transformation, Waste Reduction, Research and Innovation.
