Prime Minister to Speak at Howard University

Prime Minister P.J. Patterson left the island on Friday (May 20) for Washington D.C., where he is scheduled to deliver a lecture entitled “Global Challenges: Democracy and Development” at Howard University on Saturday May 21.
The Prime Minister’s presentation will be delivered in the context of the many serious challenges facing the international community including development, disease pandemics, poverty and security. The lecture is also expected to address issues relating to trade, environmental sustainability, democracy, human rights and the rule of law.
Mr. Patterson returns to the island on Monday May 23. During his absence Minister of National Security Hon. Dr. Peter Phillips, will be in charge of the government.
