President Bush Renews U.S. Commitment to Jamaica

United States President George W. Bush has renewed his country’s commitment to strengthening relations with Jamaica. Yesterday (Sept. 14) the US President telephoned Prime Minister, Bruce Golding to congratulate him on his appointment and on his party’s victory in the recent general election.
President Bush assured Mr. Golding of the continuation of ongoing programmes of US assistance and collaboration. Prime Minister Golding conveyed the appreciation of the Jamaican Government and people of Jamaica for the longstanding positive relationship that both countries have shared and noted that his administration would work to further improve US-Jamaica cooperation at the bilateral and multilateral levels.
Both leaders have committed to exploring new areas of mutual interest where cooperation will result in greater levels of development and prosperity for the people of Jamaica and the United States.
