Commissioner of Police, Lucius Thomas, is expected to meet with Jamaicans in South Florida on Friday (June 15) at a town hall meeting slated for the Miramar City Hall at 6:00 p.m.
At the meeting, he will speak on crime and violence in Jamaica, and current plans in place to alleviate the problem, including intensifying law enforcement efforts, and working closely with international partners in Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States.
While in Florida, Commissioner Thomas will be the guest speaker at the annual fundraising and scholarship awards banquet of the Jamaica Ex-Police Association, Florida Chapter, to be held on June 16 at the Hilton Airport Hotel in Dania.
Members of the Association recently completed refurbishing and renovation of the Richmond Hill Police Station in St. Mary at a cost of US$3,000. The scope of work included painting, plumbing, masonry and carpentry as well as installation of new equipment.
This is the fourth annual restoration effort to be undertaken by the Association, with stations at Four Paths, Clarendon; Lucea, Hanover, and Ocho Rios, St. Ann having benefited from upgrading.
