Wife of the Governor-General, Her Excellency the Most Hon. Lady Allen (centre), along with Managing Director, LASCO Affiliated Companies, Peter Chin (left) and President, Nurses Association of Jamaica (NAJ), Anthonette Patterson-Bartley, cut the cake to mark International Nurses’ Day during a ceremony at Knutsford Court Hotel in New Kingston, on May 12. International Nurses’ Day is celebrated annually on May 12, the anniversary of the founder of modern day nursing, Florence Nightingale’s birthday. The theme for 2014 is: ‘Nurses: A Force for Change – A vital resource for health’. Nurses Week, which was also launched, will be observed from July 13 to July 19.
