State Minister for Finance and the Public Service, Hon. Fayval Williams, is assisted in breaking a bottle of champagne against the hull of the Jamaica Customs Agency’s (JCA) newly commissioned patrol boat, named the ‘Skip McLaughlin’. The occasion was the vessel’s commissioning at the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) Marine headquarters in Newport East, Kingston, on Tuesday, August 9. The custom of breaking a bottle of champagne or wine against a newly commissioned boat’s hull is a longstanding global maritime tradition.
