September 1, 2010

The Full Story

Prime Minister the Hon. Bruce Golding, is scheduled to meet with heads of private sector organisations at Jamaica House on Thursday morning (September 2), to discuss a number of national issues of concern.
This was disclosed by Minister with responsibility for Information, Telecommunications and Special Projects, Hon. Daryl Vaz, at a post-Cabinet press briefing at Jamaica House on September 1.
Minister Vaz clarified that the Government had not said that it would be staging islandwide “road shows”, as has been reported in the media. He said he had in fact indicated last week, the Prime Minister’s willingness to have discussions with members of civil society to discuss issues of concern.
“I never, at any time, indicated this grand road show that is being promoted. From discussions that have been held, the Prime Minister will be meeting with the private sector leaders in relation to questions and concerns, and other meetings that are planned will not be specific to the issue of the extradition and Mannat, Phelps and Phillips, but more (of) a one on one, in terms of current issues affecting the country, and other matters that may have been of concern to those particular civil groups and individuals,” he stated.
