Prime Minister the Hon. Bruce Golding has expressed deep regret at news just received of the passing of former Minister of National Security, Colonel Trevor MacMillan, CD
Colonel MacMillan had been ailing for some time and died this morning at his home in St. Andrew. He served with the current government as Minister of National Security for 10 months.
Colonel MacMillan had a long and distinguished career in both the military and the Jamaica Constabulary Force serving as Commissioner of Police from 1993-1996; Director, Revenue Protection Division in the Ministry of Finance, (1990-93); Special Advisor to the Minister of Finance (2007); Member of the Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica; and Executive Chairman of Security and Management Services (S.A.M.S) a company he founded in 1996.
The Order of Distinction in the rank of Officer was conferred upon him in 1983 and the Order of Distinction in the rank of Commander in 1997. He was also awarded the Medal of Honour for General Service in 1986.
Mr. Golding has expressed condolences to his wife Dr. Olivia ‘Peaches’ McDonald, his sons and his daughter.
