Prime Minister Bruce Golding will address the opening session of the 29th Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) to be held from July 1-4, in Antigua and Barbuda.
The four day conference of CARICOM Heads will be chaired by Prime Minister, Winston Baldwin Spencer of Antigua and Barbuda and will focus on options for enhancing regional tourism in the contest of current international trends, food security and rising food prices. Rising energy prices, climate change and matters relating to the CARICOM Single Market will also be discussed. Other agenda items include the conduct of the External Trade Negotiations, crime and security and governance of the Caribbean Community.
Accompanying Prime Minister Golding will be Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Dr Kenneth Baugh, Finance Minister and the Public Service, Audley Shaw, Minister of Industry, Investment and Commerce, Karl Samuda and Tourism Minister, Ed Bartlett.
The Prime Minister will leave the island on Monday, June 30th and return on July 6th. During his absence, Minister of Water and Housing, Dr Horace Chang, will be in charge of the Government.
