Prime Minister Bruce Golding, along with other Government Ministers, will leave the island this afternoon to attend the 29th regular meeting of the conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) to be held July 1-4, in Antigua, Barbuda.
The four day conference of CARICOM Heads will be chaired by The Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, Winston Baldwin Spencer. The meeting will focus on options for enhancing regional tourism in thecontext of current international trends, and food security. Rising energy prices, climate change and matters relating to the CARICOM Single Market will also be discussed. Other agenda items will include the conduct of the External Trade Negotiations, crime and security and governance of the Caribbean Community.
Accompanying Prime Minister Golding will be Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Dr Kenneth Baugh; Minister of Finance and the Public Service, Audley Shaw; Minister of Industry, Investment and Commerce , Karl Samuda and Tourism Minister, Ed Bartlett.
The Prime Minister will return to the island on July 6th. During his absence, Minister of Water and Housing, Dr Horace Chang, will be in charge of the Government.
