PM Fields Questions on his Radio Call-In Programme

On Wednesday night (January 30), Prime Minister Bruce Golding opened the telephone lines to Jamaica House and fielded close to 20 calls from across the island.
The first in a series of monthly call-in programmes, ‘Jamaica House Live with Prime Minister Bruce Golding’ was carried simultaneously by seven radio stations between 8:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. and was streamed on the website of the Jamaica Information Service (JIS).
The Prime Minister’s first call came from Spanish Town, after which he was faced with a number of local issues involving the provision of basic social services, such as roads and water for Waterhouse, St. Ann, Portland, St. Mary, St. Elizabeth and St. Thomas.
Mr. Golding also discussed broad issues ranging from the importance of Air Jamaica to the national economy, FINSAC, the Portmore Toll Road and road management, to the Jamaica Public Service Company, the National Housing Trust and agriculture.
He reiterated his focus on the training and development of the country’s human resources, job creation and investment as the planks for bringing about growth in the economy.
The Prime Minister’s call-in programme was developed and produced by the Ministry of Information, Culture, Youth and Sports and the JIS and will be aired on the last Wednesday of each month. The next programme is scheduled for February 27.
