As part of efforts to broaden relations with the international community, Prime Minister, the Most Hon. Portia Simpson Miller, during her visit to the 14th Summit of the Non Aligned Movement (NAM) in Havana, Cuba last week-end, met with several world leaders.
Among them, Mrs. Simpson Miller held bilateral discussions with the Presidents of South Africa, Colombia, Namibia, and Cuba. South African President Thabo Mbeki updated the Prime Minister on the welfare of former Haitian President, Jean-Bertrand Aristide who is now residing in South Africa. The two also discussed plans for the opening of a Jamaican High Commission in that country next year. This, they agreed, was important to facilitate the development of trade and investment.
The Prime Minister’s meeting with Colombian President President
