PCOA to Hold Public Forum in Clarendon Dec. 4

December 4, 2008

The Full Story

The Police Civilian Oversight Authority (PCOA), will hold a public forum on crime in Clarendon, on Thursday, December 4, at the Versalles Hotel, May Pen, Clarendon, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
One of the primary goals of this initiative, is to foster better relations between citizens and the Police. It will also assist community members to acknowledge the responsibility they have in holding members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), accountable for their actions, as part of the whole process of transforming the organisation.
Through this forum, persons will be given an opportunity to air their concerns, in relation to how members of the JCF conduct themselves, so that they can contribute to creating a more professional Force.
Presenters at the forum will include Deputy Commissioner of Police, Charles Scarlett; Superintendent of Police, in charge of Clarendon, Dathan Henry; and His Worship the Mayor of May Pen, Councillor Milton Brown.
This is the third such meeting to be staged by the PCOA, in the effort to transform the Police Force. The Authority intends to cover the entire island, over time, but priority is being given to parishes with the highest rate of criminal activity.
