Patterson for Eric Williams Lecture Series at FIU

CARICOM’s Special Representative on Haiti’s Reconstruction, former Jamaica Prime Minister, the Most Hon P. J. Patterson, will be the guest lecturer at the 12th Annual Eric Williams Memorial Collection Lecture Series, Friday (October 15) at Florida International University (FIU), Miami.
The lecture series is titled “The Renaissance of Haiti: A Template for Caribbean Integration”. Mr. Patterson will speak on Haiti’s redevelopment, in his capacity as the representative of CARICOM’s Heads in the Haiti post-earthquake reconstruction process.
He joins a distinguished group of Caribbean scholars and politicians, who have made presentations at the Lecture Series since its inception in October, 1999. The event is free to the public and provides an intellectual forum for examining issues about the history and politics of the Caribbean and the African Diaspora.
Mr. Patterson was Jamaica’s sixth Prime Minister, 1992 to 2006. The Eric Williams Lecture Series is organized by the University of the West Indies UWI), the African New World Studies Department of FIU) and the Eric Williams Foundation. It was started by Erica Williams Connell, daughter of distinguished Caribbean Statesman, the late Eric Williams, Trinidad and Tobago’s first Prime Minister.
