Outstanding Teachers to Receive PM’s Medal of Appreciation June 14

Educators who have given outstanding service to the sector will be honoured at the Prime Minister’s Medal of Appreciation for Service to Education ceremony, which will be held on Thursday, June 14, on the lawns of Jamaica House, starting at 7:00 p.m.
Some 40 educators with combined years of over 1,500 will be recognised for their sterling contribution to education.
Governor-General, His Excellency the Most Hon. Sir Patrick Allen and Lady Allen will head the list of dignitaries at the function, to include Prime Minister, the Most Hon. Portia Simpson Miller and the Most. Hon. Errald Miller. The Prime Minister will give the main address.
The award is given to a teacher who has served for a minimum of 15 years, who has displayed exceptional service in the teaching profession, and has shown evidence of community involvement and creativity in the service given.
The Jamaica Constabulary Force band will provide fanfare and background music. There will be performances by Mona and Lannaman's Preparatory Schools. The Ardenne High School will also perform. Radio personality, Dervan Malcolm, will guide the evening’s proceedings.
President of the Jamaica Teachers’ Association (JTA), Mr. Paul Adams, will give the closing remarks. Guests are asked to be seated by 6:30 p.m.
