ONR Engages Services of PricewaterhouseCoopers

The Office of National Reconstruction (ONR) has engaged the services of accounting and auditing firm, PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Tracey Hamilton, Communications Liaison at the ONR told JIS News today that the prominent auditing firm was selected as “treasurer”, to ensure the transparency of the funds allocated to the agency for the purpose of relief and reconstruction, in the aftermath of Hurricane Ivan.
Updating on the progress of the national assessment of schools and public buildings, she informed that the first report would be submitted on September 29.
On the reconstruction of personal dwellings, Miss Hamilton noted that this would be treated in three categories, which would attract specific sums of money. The three categories are: total destruction, partial destruction, and personal content.
The last category of personal content refers to those persons who have lost personal effects, without actually losing the whole or part of their dwelling. Miss Hamilton explained that such persons would include those who had furnishings and other belongings ruined or removed by the effects of flooding.
The ONR spearheads and anchors programmes and activities necessary for full and expeditious national recovery in the aftermath of the hurricane. Its terms of reference have been expanded to include facilitating, as required, the ongoing programme of disaster management and the equitable distribution of relief supplies.
