Online Check-in Service Available to Air Jamaica Passengers

September 19, 2007

The Full Story

Passengers flying Air Jamaica from certain gateways now have the option of checking in online at www.airjamaica.com.
The new option, Web Check-In (WCI), will significantly expedite the check-in process and enable passengers to reduce the length of time checking in at the airport. During the initial rollout of this service, it will be available to passengers departing from Kingston, Montego Bay, Miami and Fort Lauderdale, allowing them to check-in four to 18 hours before the scheduled departure.
The online feature allows passengers with electronic tickets to check-in for their flight, select a seat and print a check-in confirmation from the comfort of their home, hotel or office. At the airport, passengers who have used this service can proceed to the specially marked Web Check-In counter for the relevant verification, baggage and security checks to be carried out.
“Web Check-In is another way that Air Jamaica is making air travel more convenient for our loyal customers,” Paul Pennicook, Air Jamaica’s Senior Vice President of Sales & Marketing told JIS News.
“Over the coming months, we plan to expand the availability of this new service, by providing it at additional gateways,” Mr. Pennicook said.
With this new feature, travellers with bags to be checked can arrive at the airport counter at least 90 minutes before the scheduled departure of their flight. International passengers with no checked bags can arrive at the counter at least 60 minutes prior to scheduled departure and passengers travelling within Jamaica with no checked bags can arrive at the counter at least 45 minutes prior to the scheduled departure.
The new feature will not be available to unaccompanied minors, special service need passengers, standby listings, connections with non Air Jamaica carrier, codeshare flights or groups of 10 or more.
