Official Viewing of Dudley Thompson’s Body February 6 & 7

Members of the public will be able to view the body of the late Ambassador Dudley Thompson on Monday (February 6) and Tuesday (February 7), at the Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity, 1 George Headley Drive, Kingston.

Viewing will be permitted from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on both days.

Ambassador Thompson passed away in the United States on January 20, a day after his 95th birthday. His body arrived on the island early Thursday morning (February 2).

The late Ambassador, who has been acknowledged locally and overseas as a diplomat, statesman, Pan-African crusader and legal luminary, will be accorded an official funeral.

The funeral service will be held on Friday (February 10) at the Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity; starting at 2:00 p.m. Ambassador Thompson will be interred at the Briggs Park Military Cemetery, Up Park Camp.

His final resting place is reserved for service men and members of the Jamaica Defence Force. Ambassador Dudley Thompson saw active duty as a Flight Lieutenant during the Second World War. On his return to Jamaica, he became a founding member of the Royal Air Force Association, Jamaica Branch.

A condolence book has been opened at Mico University College, Marescaux Road, Kingston and two additional books were opened on Wednesday (February 1), at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Dominica Drive, New Kingston and the People’s National Party Headquarters on Old Hope Road in Kingston.
